Summer is here and I know so many of us are counting down the seconds to those lazy pool days, smoky BBQ nights, mountain escapes, and toes-in-the-sand beach trips. ☀️🏖️⛺️
I don’t know about you, but around here, summer feels like both a dream and a full-on logistical sport. 😂 Between sunscreen battles, snack runs, and making sure no one melts or gets sunburned, I always remind myself to keep our essential oil routine safe and easy, too.
So grab your favorite cold drink (I’m partial to sparkling water with lime 🥤✨) and let’s chat about a few super simple ways to keep your family safe and happy with oils this summer. 💛
✨ 1️⃣ Check the label (yes, really!)
Think of this like reading a recipe before cooking—it saves a lot of “oops.” 🤭 Each oil is a little different. Many need a carrier oil to dilute before putting them on your skin (especially first timers!). And be extra careful around eyes, nose, and ears—we want the good smells, not the stings.
✨ 2️⃣ Store them safely
School’s out = kids exploring EVERYTHING. 😂 Make sure your precious oils are up high and out of reach. Better yet, make them part of the routine! I love letting my kids pick the diffuser blend for the day. It turns into a fun little ritual that keeps the vibes calm (even after those inevitable sibling arguments 🫣).
✨ 3️⃣ Watch out for citrus in the sun 🍊☀️
Those sunny summer days can be sneaky. Citrus oils (like lemon, lime, bergamot) can make your skin extra sensitive to the sun. Best bet? Skip applying them topically before heading outdoors. If you do, wait at least 12 hours before any sunbathing. Let’s avoid any surprise rashes or burns, okay?
Summer is for making memories—not for dealing with ouchies or frantic Google searches about essential oil safety! 😂 So let’s keep it simple, fun, and safe for everyone.

LIFESAVERS FOR THE OUTDOORS
Okay friends, let’s be real: summer fun is the best—but it can also do a number on our skin, muscles, and sinuses. 😅 Whether you're chasing kids at the splash pad, hiking your favorite trail, or refereeing the backyard water fight, these oils are my personal lifesavers to keep everyone feeling good. 💛
Here are my summer must-haves to toss in your bag, stash in the car, or keep by the back door:
🌿 Peppermint
Seriously, this is summer in a bottle. A drop on the back of your neck is amazing when it’s hot hot hot 🔥. Add a few drops to a spray bottle with water for a refreshing all-over mist. You can even add it to your drinking water (just one drop in a big bottle!) for a cool, energizing boost.
💜 Lavender
Spent a little too long out in the sun? Lavender is my go-to for soothing after-sun skin. Combine it with Peppermint in an after-sun spray for extra relief. It’s like telling your skin, “Sorry about that, friend!” 😂
🌼 TriEase® Softgels

FRESH GARDEN SALSA
INGREDIENTS
• 1 bunch coriander
• 3 cloves garlic
• 1 jalapeño
• 1 lime, juiced
• ⅓ onion
• 6 large tomatoes
• 1 pinch cayenne pepper
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons olive oil.
• 1 drop Cilantro
• 1 drop Black Pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
• Gently pulse in a blender the garlic, onion and jalapeño until finely chopped. Add to a large bowl.
• Blend the tomatoes, coriander, salt, pepper and olive oil together.
• Add to the bowl of finely chopped veggies and mix together.
• Add the essential oils and juice of the lime.
• Mix well.
• Serve with nacho chips, crackers, tacos or fajitas.
PEAR GORGONZOLA SALAD
SALAD
• 2 cups mixed greens
• 2 cups spinach
• 2 red Anjou pears
• ½ cup walnuts, chopped
• ⅓ cup gorgonzola
VINAIGRETTE
• ½ cup olive oil
• ¼ cup white balsamic vinegar
• 1 tablespoon honey Dijon mustard
• 1 toothpick Basil essential oil
• Dash of Himalayan salt
INSTRUCTIONS
• Blend together olive oil, white balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, and Himalayan salt.
• Add Basil essential oil. Start with one toothpick to taste.
• Once the dressing is flavoured to your liking, toss vinaigrette with salad ingredients. Serve immediately.
• Tip: Make the vinaigrette a day ahead and chill in the refrigerator to give a chance for all the flavors to mingle.
PINEAPPLE NECTARINE SALSA
INGREDIENTS
• 1 pineapple, sliced and diced
• 2 small nectarines, diced
• 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
• 1/2 cup red onion, diced
• 2 drops Lime essential oil
• 2 drops Cilantro essential oil
• 3 tsp sea salt
INSTRUCTIONS
• Mix all ingredients together.
• Allow salsa to sit and chill for at least four hours before eating to allow time for flavors to marinate and maximize.
• Serve with chips, over fish tacos, or as a tangy fruit salad all on its own.
SOOTHING SUN SPRAY
IN A 16 OUNCE GLASS SPRAY BOTTLE ADD:
• 1 cup aloe vera juice
• 1/4 cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
• 1 teaspoon vitamin E
• 8 drops Lavender essential oil
• 8 drops Tea Tree essential oil
• 8 drops Peppermint essential oil
Shake to combine. Shake before each use to incorporate all ingredients. Spray onto skin as needed and enjoy its soothing benefits.
COOLING WIPES
• 2 cups distilled water
• 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil
• 10-15 drops Peppermint essential oil
• 10-15 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
• 3-5 flour cloth towels cut into fourths or quarters.
INSTRUCTIONS
• In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and add the cloths.
• Soak cloths in the liquid mixture for about an hour, or until there
are no dry spots. If needed, ring out excess liquid.
• Tightly roll up the cloths and store them together in an airtight
container or in a reusable silicon bag for on-the-go use.
• Use cloths to cool skin during hot summer days. Best used on
the forehead, back of the neck, chest or inside of the thighs.
• For an extra cooling effect, keep your wipes in a chilled snack or
beverage cooler for the pool, beach, or lake.
BUG SPRAY
IN A 4 OUNCE GLASS SPRAY BOTTLE ADD:
• 2 oz Witch Hazel or vodka
• 5 drops Peppermint
• 5 drops Lavender
• 10 drops Lemongrass
• 10 drops Citronella
• 10 drops Tea Tree
• Top with distilled water
INSTRUCTIONS
• Gently shake to combine ingredients.
• To use, gently shake, then spray onto skin.
• Avoid the face and eyes.
• Reapply every hour or two.
• May also be applied to clothes and backpacks.
PATIO PARTY
In your favorite diffuser add:
• 2 drops of Wintergreen
• 2 drops of Lemongrass
• 2 drops of Wild Orange
SUN KISSED
In your favorite diffuser add:
• 2 drops of Sandalwood
• 2 drops of Citrus Bliss®
• 2 drops of Grapefruit
TAKE ME TO THE BEACH
In your favorite diffuser add:
• 2 drops of Lavender
• 2 drops of Peppermint
• 2 drops of Frankincense
SUMMER DAYS
In your favorite diffuser add:
• 2 drops of Grapefruit
• 2 drops of Spearmint
• 2 drops of Tangerine
• 2 drops of Lime
